I do not know if the server is set up so that your email and geolocation data are commingled.

If you use any of the notebook features, you may be sharing more personal information that is geolocated.

The tool was designed with research use in mind, but not only specific users and use cases are research participants. I would guess that an IRB protocol (or something similar if other types of research) would need to be on file (and the game/experience have some means of asking permission of players) before such data would be made available.

I'm not the closest to it, but these are the relevant parts I can think of. Assuming that we don't have anything truly specific yet, and that the overall intent is not to be creepy and mine or share data unnecessarily, what would such a policy need for various use cases. I'm a bit familiar with GDPR and IRB, but not an expert.

A number of people in the forum have written a good deal about their projects about AR and formal and informal education. ARIS and arisgames are good search terms on google scholar along with AR. Also look for people using other platforms like Aurasma and Taleblazer.

A couple books that are free (PDF) or cheap (Lulu) to pick up and start reading and finding other readings are

Mobile Media Learning: Amazing Uses of Mobile Devices for Learning (2012, Dikkers, et al. Eds)

Mobile Media Learning: Innovation and Inspiration (2015, Holden et al. Eds.)

These both have a lot of stories of people using AR and related things in many settings, some of them formal. They make good and easy reading. Rather than spam you now, I'll try to come up with something a bit more comprehensive or at least extensive and post it somewhere and link back here.

Thanks for asking this question. It reminds me that we have often tried to do this and keep up with the writing about AR, but it seems to be a lesser priority. It also reminds me that its been a while since we've gotten together to tell stories like in the above books. I would be interested both in knowing what stories others have told and if there's interest in putting together a new volume. I know a lot of groups don't even have the time to put their stories to words, and so maybe I could find a way to help with that too.

I have focused mainly on informal education (e.g., state parks and zoos), but I have been asked to share some on formal education. Any recommendations for some key literature I should be reading? Or any cool research projects currently going on?

Thanks for the help.

New users to the forum will require approval from a moderator before their messages are posted. Once a message is approved, they are able to post without moderation.

Let's see how that goes. Also, if you have been active on the board for a while and would like to be a moderator, I'll add you to the list.

I wonder if it might make sense for us to look at crowdfunding, and if so, how to make that happen.

My (totally uninformed) guess is that some other similar thing is happening here: since the game is large, it takes longer than usual to duplicate, and some internal setting meant to head of processes gone awry is being triggered and causing the procedure to time out.

It could also be some other error is being encountered. When it's successful, duplication is pretty snappy, but when it fails, you don't get notified. Anything longer than a few minutes would seem to be broken rather than something that just takes longer. Small games duplicate in a couple seconds.

You could try to have different people, on different network connections, try it separately, but I don't know the chances of this working.
